Ideas To Pictures

Susan often gets asked how she turns her ideas into a picture scenes for her books. Find out using these great drawings and explanations.

I would begin with an idea and sketch it in pencil.

Then I’d turn it into a black and white cartoon. Making all the lines very simple.

After that, it’s scanned into the computer and coloured.

Before finally being turned into greyscale (that’s shades of grey). Now it’s ready to be placed in the book, alongside the words.
